The Hamblin Opera House at 17 W. Main St. — now Michigan Avenue — dominates this photograph taken in 1883. Named for A. C. Hamblin, it was built in 1869 and was used for shows until 1912, according to a column in the March 14, 1930, Battle Creek Moon Journal.
